As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the City of Renton is taking visible steps to raise awareness and offer support to survivors. In collaboration with the Renton Police Department, the city has introduced a series of meaningful displays and initiatives to engage the community.
Residents and visitors to Renton City Hall will notice several signs of support for the cause:

Purple Lighting: The cherry trees in front of Renton City Hall are illuminated in purple — a color long associated with domestic violence awareness and solidarity with survivors.

Silhouette Display: Inside the City Hall lobby, a poignant display features silhouettes that tell the stories of local individuals impacted by domestic violence, offering a powerful reminder of the issue’s human toll.

Police Support: Renton police officers and vehicles are adorned with purple ribbons, signaling the department’s commitment to supporting victims. The department also has a Domestic Violence Victim Advocate available to help connect individuals with necessary resources. More information can be found at rentonwa.gov/dv.
The city urges anyone in an abusive situation to seek help. Support is available 24/7 through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or the Hopeline at 206-737-0242. For immediate danger, residents should call 911.
