Columbia University expelled American students for supporting Palestine

Columbia University of America expelled some students on Thursday (13 March). All these students were demonstrating in the college campus in support of Palestine (Israel Hamas War). During the demonstration, these students had occupied a building in the college campus.

The university informed that students had occupied the college’s Hamilton Hall amid protests against the war in Gaza. On 30 April 2024, the protesting students set up a camp and started living in Hamilton Hall.

After this, the police was called to clear the hall. The police arrested dozens of people. After this, disciplinary action was taken against the students. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office said that it would not file criminal charges against 31 of the 46 people.

US authorities have arrested Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil. According to the US administration, Mahmoud Khalil was said to be a Hamas fan. He was leading protests in support of Palestine on the college campus.
