There is great news for cricket lovers around the world. Cricket has been officially included in the Olympics to be held in Los Angeles in the year 2028, where matches will be played in T20 format between 6-6 men’s and women’s teams.
Let us tell you that the organizers of Los Angeles Olympics 2028 announced on Wednesday that cricket will be included in both men’s and women’s categories. 6 teams will play in each category and a total of 90 players (teams of 15 players in each category) will be allowed to participate in this event.
As the host of the Olympics, the US team is certain to play. The remaining five teams will have to make it through the qualification process. However, no official information has been revealed yet by the organizers or the ICC on what the format of the qualification will be.
It is worth noting that cricket was last played in the 1900 Paris Olympics, in which the teams of Great Britain and France faced each other. That was the only two-day match, which is now considered an unofficial test. Since then cricket has been missing from the Olympics, but now in 2028 it will officially return with the T20 format.
