Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma got divorced on Thursday after 4 years of marriage. The Mumbai Family Court approved this on Thursday. Both were living separately for two and a half years. They got married on 11 December 2020. Chahal’s lawyer Nitin Kumar Gupta said, ‘The family court has accepted the joint petition of both the parties. Now both are no longer husband and wife.’
Chahal and Dhanashree were present in the court when the verdict was announced. A day earlier, the Bombay High Court had ordered the Family Court to pronounce its verdict on Chahal’s petition on March 20. A single bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar had said, ‘Chahal will not be available from March 21, as he has to participate in the IPL.’
Chahal’s lawyer told the court that a settlement of Rs 4.75 crore has been reached between the two. Chahal has already given Rs 2.37 crore to Dhanashree. Chahal and Dhanashree stayed in the court for about an hour. Both were wearing masks on their faces. Dhanashree was wearing a white top and blue jeans with black sunglasses. Both did not talk to the media. Both went inside the courtroom without giving any statement.
