USADetectives Investigate Homicide in Downtown Seattle

Seattle police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in Downtown Seattle.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of 2nd Avenue at the Sinking Ship parking garage. Officers located a man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Seattle Fire Department arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

A second victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was treated by Seattle Fire Department personnel before being transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

A third victim suffered a graze wound and was transported to Harborview in stable condition. A fourth victim later arrived at the hospital with a graze wound from gunfire and is also listed in stable condition.

Detectives determined that a physical altercation broke out inside the parking garage, escalating into a gunfight involving multiple individuals. No suspects are currently in custody.

Police reported that two people were arrested following disturbances at the scene after the shooting.

Officers secured the area as the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will take custody of the deceased and determine the victim’s identity and cause of death.

The investigation remains ongoing.
