Airport Director Javed Anjum confirmed this and said that as per the current situation the airport was kept closed as a precautionary measure and in the meantime the movement of aircraft from the airport remained completely halted.

Meanwhile, Haj Committee CEO Dr. Shujaat Ahmed Qureshi said that due to the airport being closed today, the Haj flight carrying Haj pilgrims to Jeddah could not take off.He said that today Kafia flight number SG-5207 carrying 320 pilgrims for Hajj was scheduled to take off from Srinagar airport for Jeddah, but due to the situation this flight was also cancelled along with the normal flights.

He said that even tomorrow i.e. on Thursday, Haj pilgrims will not be able to leave for Jeddah, because the flight number SG-5208 scheduled for Thursday has also been cancelled due to the current situation. He said that the new date of departure of both the cancelled Haj flights will be announced later.
