Washington, D.C. —
Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has strongly criticized the Trump administration for continuing efforts to block food assistance for low-income families, even after repeated court rulings against the move.
In a post shared on social media early Saturday morning, Ferguson announced that November SNAP benefits have started flowing to Washington households following multiple lawsuits and court orders.
“Hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians across our state finally have the SNAP benefits they need to put food on the table,” Ferguson wrote.
He went on to denounce the administration’s ongoing attempts to withhold aid, revealing that President Trump’s legal team has now taken the case to the U.S. Supreme Court after losing in lower courts.
“President Trump needs to stop fighting to keep food from hungry families, and focus on re-opening the government,” Ferguson added.
The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) provides essential food assistance to millions of Americans, and legal battles over benefit distribution have intensified amid ongoing political disputes in Washington.
State officials say they will continue working to ensure that eligible residents receive their food benefits without disruption.
