Governor Ferguson Declares Emergency Over I-90 Bullfrog Road Overpass Damage

USAGovernor Ferguson Declares Emergency Over I-90 Bullfrog Road Overpass Damage

Seattle, WA – October 25, 2025:
Governor Bob Ferguson has signed an emergency proclamation following severe damage to the Bullfrog Road overpass on Interstate 90 in Kittitas County. The damage, caused by a vehicle strike, has led to the closure of the westbound lanes of I-90 underneath the structure.

The proclamation enables the state to seek federal funds and enter into an emergency contract to expedite repair work. Ferguson emphasized that the top priority is reopening the westbound lanes of I-90 as soon as possible to restore normal traffic flow through the region.

According to the proclamation, the overpass—identified as Bridge 90/133—was struck by an over-height load on October 21, 2025, causing significant structural damage that threatens its safety and longevity. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has implemented immediate safety measures, including the closure of lanes and detours, while assessing the extent of repairs needed.

The proclamation also notes that repair costs are expected to exceed $5 million. Federal Highway Administration assistance will be sought to help fund and accelerate restoration efforts.
