Washington, D.C. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that its agents have arrested a man alleged to be connected to ISIS-K, according to a statement shared by the agency.
Federal officials stated that the suspect entered the United States as part of the Afghan evacuation under the Operation Allies Welcome program, which assisted Afghan nationals with relocation following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Authorities allege that the individual had not been fully vetted at the time of entry.
ICE officials said the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to identify and remove individuals who pose potential national security threats. The agency has not publicly released details regarding when or where the arrest took place, or what specific charges the suspect is expected to face in court.
Federal investigators continue to handle the case, and further updates are expected as legal proceedings move forward.
