A political battle has erupted in Himachal Pradesh over the money of temples. Responding to the allegations of Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the former Jairam government took Rs 28 crore from temples to run its schemes.
If you do it yourself then it is a virtue and if we do it then it is a sin. Sukhu said that there is no rule to take money from temples. The Deputy Commissioner has the power for this. This money is also spent on works like roads and paths.

The Chief Minister said that the money of temples does not come into the government treasury. There is an SOP for giving money to temples. Therefore, he advised Jairam not to link everything with politics. He said that there should be sensitivity in such matters.
Earlier, Jairam Thakur said that the employees of Hanaugi Mata Temple had not been paid their salaries for five to six months but the five lakh rupees deposited in the temple was transferred and given for the Sukh Aashray Yojana.
