Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von Leyen have completely ended the ifs and buts regarding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to increase trade and economic cooperation between the two sides.
Expressing commitment in this regard, both the leaders directed their respective ministries to seal the India-EU trade agreement by the end of this year as per the interests of both the parties.
On Monday itself, India has started fresh talks on FTA with Britain, which is targeted to be finalized in 2025. It is clear that when many countries are busy shutting down their economies and are creating obstacles in the way of globalization by imposing import duties on other countries, then India is vocal about FTA.
Perhaps this is the reason why President Ursala has called India a pillar of stability in the current global instability.Along with President Ursala, commissioners from 22 out of 27 countries of the European Union (EU) have visited India. For the first time such a large EU team has come to visit another country.
