The Indian government has made an important change in the rules for getting a passport. It is important for you to know about this change so that you do not face any problem in getting a passport.
The Government of India has now made birth certificate mandatory for getting a passport. Under the new rule, it will now be mandatory to provide birth certificate for getting a passport. Only birth certificate will be considered as a valid proof for date of birth for passport.

However, let us tell you here that these rules (Passport New Rules) will not apply to all people. These new rules will apply only to those who are born on or after 1 October 2023. Meaning birth certificates are not required for those who are born before this date to get a passport.
But if people born after October 1, 2023 want to get a passport, then only the birth certificate will be valid for their date of birth. Earlier, mark sheet or school leaving certificate, driving license were also used in place of birth certificate.

However, those born before October 1, 2023 can still prove their date of birth based on additional documents like 10th board mark sheet or certificate, school living certificate, PAN card, driving license or any other government ID.
The Indian government has made two more important changes related to passports. Now residential addresses will not be printed on the last page of the passport. That is, residential addresses will no longer be printed on the last page of the passport. Instead, immigration officers will be able to obtain information by scanning the barcode.

Apart from this, the names of the parents will also not be printed on the last page of the passport. This rule will provide relief to children of single parents or isolated families and their privacy will remain intact.
