There is hue and cry in Pakistan over inflation. Both shopkeepers and buyers are troubled by the inflation. Ramadan is over but the prices of goods have not been reduced. Boneless chicken meat has increased to Rs. 1200. Tomatoes have increased from Rs. 60 to Rs. 180 per kg.

Instead of the government rate, sugar is being sold at Rs 180 per kg, up from Rs 170. Live chicken is being sold at Rs 490, onion at Rs 60 per kg, up from Rs 40, while pickled chillies are being sold at Rs 200 per kg, up from Rs 110. The price of lemon has increased considerably. Also, there has been no reduction in the prices of fruits; apples are being sold at Rs 400 per kg and bananas at Rs 200 per dozen.

As soon as Ramadan started, the price of broiler chicken in Karachi increased by 120 to 150 rupees per kg. With this, the price of broiler chicken increased to 720 to 800 Pakistani rupees per kg. Meanwhile, an increase in the price of LPG was also announced yesterday. The price of LPG has been increased by 54 paise per kilogram.
