The party has fielded Rajya Sabha member and famous industrialist Sanjeev Arora for the by-election on Ludhiana West seat, which fell vacant after the death of MLA Gurpreet Gogi. Importantly, the Election Commission has not yet announced the election on this seat, but the Aam Aadmi Party has declared him as its candidate.
However, it is not yet clear whether Sanjeev Arora will resign as Rajya Sabha member before contesting the elections or after winning the by-election, but it is certain that in the coming days, the way will be cleared to send Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to the Rajya Sabha.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu of Congress has also been the MLA from this seat and has also been the Food and Supplies Minister in the former Captain government. He had lost in the last election.
