USAKent City Council Proclaims Black Wellness Week, Honors Community Leaders

The City of Kent has officially proclaimed April 13–17 as Black Wellness Week, highlighting the importance of holistic health and cultural well-being within Black communities. The announcement was made during this week’s City Council meeting by Mayor Dana Ralph.

As part of the proclamation, recognition was given to Keith and Christina Blocker, co-founders of Elevate Black Wellness, for their continued efforts in promoting health, healing, and culturally rooted wellness initiatives.

Black Wellness Week aims to celebrate traditions, encourage mental and physical well-being, and strengthen community connections through inclusive and culturally relevant approaches. City officials emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader commitment to equity, health awareness, and support for diverse communities.

Residents are encouraged to participate in activities and learn more about wellness practices that honor and uplift Black culture throughout the week.
