City of Kent government crews are actively monitoring flooding conditions and responding across the city as needed. Officials have urged residents to stay informed and take safety precautions as weather conditions continue to change.
According to city updates, road closures and traffic advisories are being issued where necessary, and residents are advised to avoid driving through flooded areas. Authorities emphasized the message: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” warning that even shallow water can be dangerous.
Residents are encouraged to check official updates through KentWA.gov/emergency and sign up for Drive Kent Alerts to receive real-time notifications. Flood safety reminders include avoiding closed roads, not walking through floodwater, and clearing nearby storm drains only if it is safe to do so.
For those affected, shelter support is available at the Auburn Community & Events Center, located at 910 9th St SE, Auburn. Non-emergency flooding issues such as minor flooding or blocked drains can be reported through the KentWorks App or by calling 253-856-5600. Life-threatening emergencies should be reported by calling 911.
City officials stated that updates will continue as conditions evolve and urged the public to remain alert and prepared.
