USAKent Declares April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Honors Community Advocate

The City of Kent has officially proclaimed April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month during this week’s City Council meeting, reaffirming its commitment to supporting survivors and preventing sexual violence. Mayor Dana Ralph presented the proclamation to Hira Singh Bhullar, a board member of the King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC).

City officials highlighted the critical work of KCSARC in providing support to survivors, their families, and the wider community. The organization plays a key role in raising awareness, changing harmful attitudes, and encouraging open conversations about sexual violence.

The proclamation emphasizes the importance of fostering a safe and supportive environment while promoting education and prevention efforts. Leaders also stressed the need for community involvement in addressing harmful behaviors and building a culture that discourages violence.

Residents are encouraged to stand in solidarity with survivors, participate in awareness initiatives, and contribute to creating a safer, more informed community throughout the month of April.
