Kent, WA — The Kent Police Department joined the nation in honoring and remembering the lives lost during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In a message shared with the community, the department paid tribute to the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice and the families who continue to carry their legacy.
“Today we remember and honor those who served and died in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, and their families who loved them. Thank you for your service,” the department stated.
Observed annually, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemorates the surprise military strike by the Imperial Japanese Navy that drew the United States into World War II. The attack claimed the lives of more than 2,400 Americans and injured over 1,000 others.
Residents are encouraged to take a moment of reflection to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of those who served. Additional historical information can be found through the National Park Service’s Pearl Harbor resources.
