USAKent Police Highlight National Impaired Driving Prevention Month

KENT, WA – December 2025 — The Kent Police Department is recognizing National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, emphasizing the dangers impaired driving poses to public safety and the importance of early intervention.

As part of the month-long awareness effort, the department is promoting the Kent Municipal Court’s DUI Court program, a specialized therapeutic initiative designed for high-risk DUI offenders. The program connects participants with treatment for substance use and mental health disorders, pairing accountability with recovery services.

The KMC DUI Court program includes five structured phases aimed at helping participants remain alcohol- and drug-free, reducing repeat offenses, and supporting long-term rehabilitation. Intensive treatment, supervision, and access to crucial community resources are key components of the program.

Officials say the goal is to help individuals achieve healthier, more stable lives while strengthening overall community safety.

Residents can learn more about the DUI Court program at the City of Kent’s official website.
