USAKent Police Issue Winter Weather Safety Reminder as Snow and Ice Impact Roads

The Kent Police Department is urging residents to use extra caution on the roads as snow and icy conditions affect travel throughout the day. With winter weather continuing in the forecast, officers warn that roads may be slick and require additional travel time.

City plow crews are currently active, focusing first on major roads, hills, and bridges before moving to secondary streets. Police thanked public works staff for their ongoing efforts to clear snow and apply salt.

Authorities also reminded drivers to fully clear snow and ice from their vehicles before hitting the road. This includes windows, headlights, and brake lights. Driving with obstructed visibility can result in a traffic citation.

Residents are advised to slow down, allow for longer stopping distances, and plan for delays as winter conditions persist.

The department closed its advisory with a message encouraging the community to “Stay warm, stay safe.”
