USAKing County Launches 2026 Wastemobile Program for Safe Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

The City of Kent Government has announced the return of the 2026 Wastemobile season, providing residents across King County with convenient locations to safely dispose of household hazardous waste.

Operated through the King County Hazardous Waste Management Program, the traveling Wastemobile will visit 21 locations throughout the county from February through October, allowing residents to properly discard potentially dangerous household materials.

Officials say the program is designed to help protect the environment and keep harmful chemicals out of local landfills, water systems, and soil.

Accepted Hazardous Waste Items

Residents can bring several common household hazardous products, including:

  • Batteries

  • Oil-based paint

  • Antifreeze

  • Pesticides

  • Household cleaners

  • Other similar hazardous materials

Safety Guidelines Before Visiting

Authorities are reminding residents to follow safety precautions when bringing items for disposal:

  • Do not mix products together

  • Keep items in their original containers whenever possible

  • Label containers that are not original

  • Secure containers to prevent spills during transport

  • Remain in your vehicle and follow staff instructions at the site

Officials also recommend reviewing accepted item lists and quantity limits before visiting a Wastemobile location.

Residents seeking additional information about hazardous waste disposal or Wastemobile locations can contact the Hazardous Waste Helpline at 206-296-4692.

The program aims to make it easier for the community to dispose of hazardous products responsibly while helping protect public health and the environment across King County.
