Mona Bugalia alias Mooli Devi, who had stayed at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) for nearly two years as a police sub-inspector, made social media reels of IPS officers and attended several training sessions, was arrested by the Jaipur police on Friday. However, the Rajasthan Police Academy has said that it is impossible to access the RPA’s classroom and indoor training facilities.
Mona Bugalia alias Mooli Devi was arrested from Sikar district of Rajasthan earlier this week. She was absconding since 2023. A complaint was first filed against her in Jaipur in 2023. According to the police, Mona Bugalia continued training at the state’s premier police training institute without clearing the sub-inspector recruitment exam. After her arrest, the police searched a rented room belonging to Bugalia.
During the search, the police recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, three different police uniforms and examination papers from the Rajasthan Police Academy. His false identity and forged documents used have also been recovered. According to the police, Mona Bugalia is a resident of Nimba Ke Bas village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Her father is a truck driver. According to official records, Mona Bugalia never passed the Rajasthan Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam.
After failing in the exam, she created false documents in the name ‘Mooli Devi’ and shared a post on social media claiming that she had been selected as sub-inspector. Subsequently, she joined a WhatsApp group exclusively created for sub-inspector recruitment and introduced herself at the Rajasthan Police Academy by tampering with the documents of a candidate from an old batch enrolled through the sports quota.
For about two years, Mona Bugalia was regularly spotted at the RPA parade ground in full uniform. She also participated in outdoor exercises, posed for photographs with ranking officers and posted several reels on social media presenting herself as a serving officer. In Mona’s Instagram post, she is seen giving motivational speeches to young aspirants and standing with senior police officers including several IPS officers. Mona is famous as Lady Singham on Instagram.
