A surprise raid in Kochi on Sunday morning has shocked the Malayalam film industry. The Excise Department arrested three people, including famous filmmaker Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, for possessing hybrid marijuana.
The operation was carried out at around 2 am. The third person arrested is Shalif Mohammed. The officers conducted the raid based on a tip-off and recovered 1.63 grams of hybrid marijuana. After receiving confidential information, the excise department raided an apartment near Goshree Bridge late at night. This apartment is said to be of the famous cinematographer of the film industry, Sameer Tahir. After taking the three into custody, they were released on station bail.
According to department sources, the raid was conducted in complete secrecy so that no information is leaked. According to the report, preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested people have been consuming ganja for a long time. Officials say that the ganja recovered was brought for personal use. They had gathered in the apartment at that time for a meeting related to a film.
