A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing incident Thursday evening in Seattle’s Cherry Hill neighborhood that left a 58-year-old man critically injured.
Police responded at approximately 6:08 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in the 1100 block of 16th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim in a parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso and arm.
Officers provided immediate medical assistance until medics from the Seattle Fire Department arrived. The victim was then transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
Authorities located the suspect nearby. He was found with a self-inflicted laceration to his hand and was also taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to be booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault once medically cleared.
Preliminary investigations indicate the stabbing occurred following an altercation between the two individuals.
Detectives from the Homicide and Assault Unit are leading the investigation and are working to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
