Seattle, Wash. — Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.
At approximately 10:20 p.m., 911 dispatchers received reports of gunfire near East Pine Street and Belmont Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and neck.
Police immediately began providing first aid until medics from the Seattle Fire Department arrived. Despite extensive life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said a 42-year-old man remained at the location and was taken into custody without incident. Investigators believe the shooting followed an altercation between the two men shortly before gunfire erupted.
Detectives with the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.
