A late-night domestic disturbance in Chinatown-International District turned violent early Wednesday morning, leaving a man with serious injuries and a woman in police custody.
According to the Seattle Police Department, officers responded shortly after midnight to reports of a stabbing at an apartment located in the 900 block of South Jackson Street. Upon arrival, police discovered a 38-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the head and neck.
Officers immediately provided first aid until personnel from the Seattle Fire Department arrived at the scene. The victim was then transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Authorities reported that a 24-year-old woman was present at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from an altercation between the two individuals. During the dispute, the man was reportedly pepper-sprayed prior to the stabbing.
Detectives from the Domestic Violence Unit are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the violent encounter.
The suspect has been booked into King County Jail on suspicion of assault as the investigation continues.
