A proud and historic moment for the Sikh community as multiple proclamations and resolutions were issued across Washington State recognizing Vaisakhi, Khalsa Day, and Sikh Heritage Month in April 2026.

Proclamations for Vaisakhi and Khalsa Day were officially issued by Bob Ferguson, Snohomish County Council, the City of Bellevue, the City of Bothell, King County, Clark County, and several other cities including Kent, Renton, Kirkland, and Mill Creek. In addition, Sikh Heritage Month was officially proclaimed in recognition of the Sikh community’s invaluable contributions to society.
These recognitions honor the rich history, faith, culture, and traditions of Sikhs while highlighting the core values of equality, selfless service, compassion, justice, courage, and humanity. The proclamations also acknowledge the lasting impact of the Sikh community in strengthening local communities through leadership, volunteerism, business, public service, and cultural diversity.

The proclamations were received by Gurdeep Bains and Kamal Bains on behalf of the community.
