Mumbai terror attack convict Tahawwur will be brought to India today

POLITICS & LAWSMumbai terror attack convict Tahawwur will be brought to India today

Tahawwur Rana, convicted in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, will be brought to India today. According to reports, a joint team of investigative agency NIA and intelligence agency RAW is present in the US for the extradition of Tahawwur. All the paperwork for the extradition has been completed.

The US Supreme Court on Monday rejected the petition to stop Rana’s extradition. Tahawwur had filed a petition to avoid coming to India. In his petition, he had described himself as suffering from Parkinson’s disease and said that if he was deported to India, he could be tortured.

Tahawwur Rana was arrested by the FBI in 2009. Rana was convicted of supporting Lashkar-e-Taiba in the US. He is currently lodged in a detention center in Los Angeles. On 26 November 2008, 10 terrorists of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba attacked Mumbai. These attacks lasted for four days. A total of 175 people were killed in these attacks, including 9 attackers, and more than 300 people were injured.
