The family of Indian student Neelam Shinde, who was a victim of a road accident in California, America, has got a visa to America. The student’s family had demanded immediate visa to stay with her and take care of her. Neelam’s family had applied for a visa only 48 hours after the accident but were facing difficulties. Neelam is undergoing treatment at C Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule had appealed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to help the family in getting the visa. Sule had said that this is a worrying matter, everyone should come together and help. He had said that Neelam’s father has applied for a visa and he needs assistance.

Neelam Shinde from Satara, Maharashtra, was seriously injured in the accident on February 14 and has been in a coma in the hospital since then. Shinde suffered serious injuries on his head, hands and chest. According to the information, the Ministry of External Affairs had raised the matter of urgent visa request of Neelam’s family with the US.

The accident with Neelam happened when she was hit by a man’s car in California. After the accident the accused fled from the spot. However, the police arrested the accused on February 19. Lawrence Gallo, 58, was arrested five days after the incident.
