Kent, Wash. — The Kent Police Department officially welcomed its newest officer during a swearing-in ceremony held Tuesday night before the Kent City Council.
Deputy Chief Stansfield introduced Officer C. Alonzo, who took his oath of office administered by Council President Kaur. The department described the public oath as a longstanding tradition that reflects its commitment to professional standards, community service, and transparency.
Officer Alonzo moved to Washington state from Texas at the age of eight and grew up in Buckley. During high school, he spent four years raising and showing dogs through the 4-H program. For the past two years, he has worked in Maple Valley as a driver while pursuing his law enforcement career.
According to the department, Alonzo chose Kent after completing a ride-along with the agency. Officials said he “fell in love with the city” and expressed a strong desire to serve the Kent community.
Alonzo has now begun the next phase of his training, partnering with an experienced Field Training Officer. This hands-on period will allow him to apply the skills learned at the police academy while gaining practical experience serving residents.
The Kent Police Department encouraged community members to welcome Officer Alonzo as he begins his career in public safety.
