News Update: Weekend I-405 Closure in Renton Announced by WSDOT

USANews Update: Weekend I-405 Closure in Renton Announced by WSDOT

The City of Renton has issued a weekend traffic alert in coordination with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), notifying residents of a major road closure on northbound I-405.

The closure will stretch from North Southport Drive/Northeast Sunset Boulevard (Exit 5) to Coal Creek Parkway Southeast (Exit 10). It will begin at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, and remain in effect until 4 a.m. on Monday, April 20.

During this period, all northbound lanes will be closed as crews carry out extensive construction work. The project includes drainage crosscuts excavation, full pavement replacement, and a traffic shift as part of the ongoing I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

Detour routes will be clearly marked, and drivers are urged to plan ahead, expect delays, and consider alternative routes to avoid congestion.

For more information, commuters can visit the official WSDOT website
