You will soon be able to go to the neighboring country Bhutan by train. Indian Railways has completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for laying railway tracks from Kokrajhar in Assam to Gelephu in Bhutan.
The final location survey for the proposed railway line has already been completed, a Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson said on Saturday. Now the approval of DPR is awaited. This proposed 69.04 km long railway line will connect Kokrajhar station in Assam to Gelephu in Bhutan.

The project will have an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 crore. The proposed railway line will further strengthen India-Bhutan relations by increasing trade, tourism and cultural interaction between the two countries. This will also improve connectivity. Bhutan-India’s first railway link will provide seamless transportation facilities.

Please note that several agreements were signed during PM Modi’s visit to Bhutan a few months ago. Rail link project was also included in this. Now there is preparation to work on it. Both the countries had signed MoU regarding railway projects
