Now you will not get British citizenship easily, PM Starmer announced new policy

NATIONALNow you will not get British citizenship easily, PM Starmer announced new policy

British citizenship will no longer be easy to obtain. Now the waiting period for immigrants to obtain citizenship has been increased from five to 10 years. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a strict new policy on immigration on Monday.

The move aims to ensure a significant reduction in immigration figures over the next five years. This new policy will affect migrants from all over the world, including Indians. In a press conference before presenting the much-awaited white paper on migration in Parliament, Starmer accused the previous Conservative Party government of ‘messing up’ by using the open borders as a pretext.

The migration system will be tightened so that we have more control, he said. He said that under the new system, the existing system of automatic settlement and acquisition of citizenship for any person, including Indians, living in Britain for five years will end. Instead, all migrants will have to spend a decade in the UK before applying for permanent residence unless they can demonstrate a ‘genuine and lasting contribution to the economy and society’.

Applications from highly skilled people, such as nurses, doctors, engineers and AI leaders, who contribute to the UK economy, will be considered quickly.Starmer has promised to end Britain’s failed experiment with open borders. The decision comes after the anti-immigration Reform Party’s success in recent local elections.
