World number-1 Arina Sabalenka made it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon on Tuesday. She came back after losing the first set in the quarter-finals against Germany’s Laura Siegemund and won the match. World number-5 Taylor Fritz also won the quarter-finals in men’s singles. In men’s singles, world number-5 Taylor Fritz of America won the match in 4 sets and made it to the semi-finals. He defeated Karen Kachanov of Russia 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4) in the quarter-finals.
He will now face the winner of the quarter-final between Cameron Norrie and Carlos Alcaraz. In men’s doubles, world number-1 pair of Argentina’s Marcelo Arevalo and Croatia’s Mat Pavic entered the semi-finals. Both defeated world number-10 pair of France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Monaco’s Hugo Nys by a close margin of 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (10-5). The pair of Rinki Hijikata of Australia and David Pel of Netherlands also won in the quarter-finals. Both of them entered the semi-finals by defeating the pair of Rafael Matos and Marcelo Melo of Brazil by a margin of 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.
In women’s singles, world number-1 Arina Sabalenka of Belarus entered the semi-finals. She won against Germany’s Laura Siegemund in the quarter-finals despite losing the first set. Siegemund won the first set 6-4. Sabalenka won the remaining 2 sets by 6-2, 6-4 and won the match. There was an upset in the quarterfinals of women’s doubles. The unseeded pair of Desiree Kravjic of America and Olivia Gadecki of Australia defeated the world number-16 pair of Caroline Dolehide and Sofia Kenin of America 6-2, 6-3.
