Pakistan has sent back 1.3 million Afghan refugees to their country since November 2023. Parliamentary Secretary Mukhtar Ahmed Malik gave this information on Wednesday. The government had initially said it was first focusing on deporting foreigners without any legal documents.
Later, this campaign will also include Afghan citizen card holders. This document was launched in 2017 to give temporary legal status to Afghan refugees. Malik said that about 3 million Afghan refugees are living in Pakistan. Of these, 813,000 have Afghan citizen cards, while 1.3 million have registration certificate cards. Millions of Afghan citizens were living here illegally without any documents.
