Seattle police are investigating a vehicle–pedestrian collision that left a man with potentially life-threatening injuries Monday night in the Interbay neighborhood.
At approximately 8:35 p.m. on December 1, officers responded to reports of a crash on 15th Avenue West near West Emerson Street. When police and Seattle Fire Department (SFD) crews arrived, they found a man in his 20s to 30s lying in the roadway with severe injuries.
SFD medics provided emergency treatment before transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Investigators determined that a 56-year-old driver, operating a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt, was traveling south on 15th Avenue West when he unintentionally struck the pedestrian, who was in the middle of the roadway at the time. The driver remained at the scene, called 911, and cooperated fully with responding officers.
A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluated the driver and found no signs of impairment. Police released him from the scene.
Officials noted that the information is preliminary and that the case has not yet been assigned to a detective.
