AUBURN, Wash. — Major repair work on the northbound SR 167 bridge over Third Avenue SW in Pacific is set to begin next week, bringing significant lane closures and traffic impacts to the region, according to the City of Auburn and WSDOT.
The repairs are necessary after the bridge was struck by an over-height vehicle earlier this fall, causing substantial damage to one of its girders. Crews contracted by WSDOT will be working seven days a week to complete the project, which is expected to continue into early 2026.
What Drivers Need to Know
Full Overnight Closures
All northbound lanes between Stewart Road and Ellingson Road will shut down overnight on Wednesday, November 19, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction staging.
Around-the-Clock Lane Reduction
Beginning the morning of November 20, northbound SR 167 will be reduced to one right lane 24/7 for the duration of construction.
Third Avenue SW Closure
The roadway beneath the bridge will also close starting November 19 and will remain closed until repairs are completed.
Expect Delays and Plan Ahead
WSDOT is urging drivers to expect delays, consider alternate routes, and check real-time travel updates through the WSDOT mobile app, travel map, or email alerts.
Officials are reminding the public to stay alert in work zones and give construction crews plenty of space.
