Seattle, Wash. — Seattle police arrested a man Sunday morning following a shooting near the Chinatown–International District neighborhood.
Officers responded at approximately 6:00 a.m. to a report of a woman shot in the 500 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival, they found a 26-year-old woman suffering from a small-caliber gunshot wound to her upper right thigh. She received immediate medical attention from officers until Seattle Fire Department personnel transported her to Harborview Medical Center, where she remains in serious but stable condition.
During the investigation, the victim told officers she had gone to the suspect’s apartment to take a shower and was shot after taking longer than expected. She was unsure whether the suspect used a pellet gun or a firearm.
As the investigation continued, a 47-year-old man exited the apartment and was arrested without incident. Officers later obtained a search warrant for the apartment, where they recovered a BB gun rifle, a pellet gun rifle, and a small-caliber handgun.
Seattle Police’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center under hospital guard and will be booked into King County Jail following a medical evaluation.
