USARainier Ave S Project in Renton Nears Completion, Work Pauses for Holidays

The City of Renton has provided an update on the Rainier Avenue South (Phase 4) project, confirming that construction is nearing its final stages despite delays caused by a recent atmospheric river event. Prolonged wet weather over the past few weeks slowed progress; however, crews continued working whenever conditions allowed.

According to city officials, remaining work will pause during the holiday season, with construction scheduled to resume on January 5.

Work Completed / In Progress:

  • Crews have made steady progress despite challenging weather conditions.

Final Tasks to Be Completed After January 5:

  • Grading and paving of driveways

  • Irrigation and landscaping

  • Striping

  • Median installation

Holiday Work Pause:

  • No construction work: December 22 to January 2

  • Crews return: January 5

Traffic Advisory:

  • Intermittent road closures for striping will occur on side streets through Friday, December 19, including:

    • S. 2nd St.

    • Tobin St.

    • Victoria St.

    • Hayes Pl.

    • Nelson Pl. NW

    • NW 3rd Pl.

  • All work is weather dependent.
