Redmond, WA — November 15, 2025

An armed robbery suspect has been apprehended following an extensive investigation by the Redmond Police Department. The incident, which took place on October 16 at approximately 11:20 a.m., involved a suspect who approached an elderly victim unloading groceries at a residence in the 4000 block of 159th Ave. NE. The suspect, driving a white Tesla, displayed a firearm and demanded money. When the victim said he had no money, the suspect struck him in the head with the firearm before fleeing the scene.

Redmond detectives quickly launched an investigation and discovered that the suspect had followed the victim from a nearby 7-Eleven store. Surveillance footage from the store revealed the suspect observing the victim during checkout, which led detectives to believe he was tracking the victim before the robbery occurred.

After identifying the suspect’s vehicle, Redmond detectives were able to locate it at a residence in Renton. On November 5, detectives, with assistance from North Sound Metro SWAT, executed a search warrant at the residence. Inside, they found clothing matching what the suspect had worn during the robbery, as well as a stolen firearm.

The suspect, identified as Abukar A. Dahir, 24, was arrested and booked into King County Jail on charges of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree. Dahir remains in custody with a bail set at $150,000.

Redmond Police officials praised the diligent efforts of their detectives and partner agencies, who worked quickly and thoroughly to solve the case and bring the suspect into custody.
