Renton Launches 2027–2028 Budget Survey to Gather Community Input

USARenton Launches 2027–2028 Budget Survey to Gather Community Input

The City of Renton has officially launched its community-wide budget survey as part of the planning process for the 2027–2028 biennial budget. The survey aims to collect feedback from residents to help guide how the city allocates resources and prioritizes services in the coming years.

The city’s research partner, ReconMR, has begun outreach to a randomly selected group of residents through text messages, emails, phone calls, and mailed postcards. Selected participants are encouraged to complete an online survey designed to ensure representative input from across the community.

The survey is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese (simplified), Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Russian, to ensure accessibility for Renton’s diverse population.

Residents who are not contacted directly will still have an opportunity to participate when the survey opens to the general public on April 22 and closes on May 13.

City officials emphasize that the biennial budget process is a collaborative effort involving community input, the mayor, city council, and city leadership. The final budget is reviewed and approved by the Renton City Council.

According to the city, public input plays a critical role in shaping decisions that impact essential services such as public safety, transportation, parks, and infrastructure. The budget serves as a roadmap for how taxpayer dollars are invested to improve quality of life across the city.
