USARenton Police Announce Shred-A-Thon & Rx Drug Take Back Event for Safe Disposal

The Renton Police Department is encouraging residents to take part in National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day by attending a special community event aimed at promoting safety and environmental responsibility.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Renton Memorial Stadium, the 2026 “Shred-A-Thon & Rx Drug Take Back” event will provide a convenient drive-through service for disposing of expired or unused medications and securely shredding sensitive documents.

Officials emphasize that properly discarding old prescriptions helps prevent misuse, accidental poisoning, and environmental harm. In addition to document shredding and medication disposal, the event will also include a food drive, encouraging attendees to support local community members in need.

Residents are urged to bring unwanted medications and confidential paperwork for safe handling, all in one stop. The initiative highlights community collaboration in maintaining a cleaner, safer environment.

Authorities noted that participation is simple and impactful, helping reduce risks at home while contributing to broader public safety efforts.
