The Renton Police Department, in partnership with Renton Parks and Recreation and the City of Renton, celebrated the winners of the 2025 Battle of the Badges: Holiday Lights competition. The festive annual event brought together local agencies in a friendly contest showcasing elaborate holiday displays and community spirit.
Kent Police Department took home the top prize with their “Merry Minions” display, earning 1st Place – The BIG Trophy.
The Port of Seattle Fire Department earned the Clark Griswold Award for their “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”–themed setup, while the Holiday Spirit Award also went to Port of Seattle Police Department for their “Christmas Movies” display.
Organizers expressed gratitude to all agencies that participated and helped make the event “magical,” highlighting the dedication of volunteers and community partners. Renton Technical College hosted the celebration and provided dinner for volunteers, while the Renton Chamber of Commerce coordinated sponsors and donations.
Food vendors including Café de la Loba, NY Style Dirty Dawgz, Dirtz LLC, and Legendary Doughnuts helped fuel attendees, and dessert donors such as Macadons, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Wealthery in Renton contributed sweet treats. Dinner sponsors included Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, Torero’s Mexican Cantina, Red Tea Room, and several others.
The event also raised funds for local families, collecting 441 pounds of food and $325.56 for the Renton Salvation Army.
Organizers thanked the public and participants for their enthusiasm and support, noting that plans are already underway for next year’s celebration. A recap video of the event will be released soon.
