Renton, WA – November 31, 2025
As Daylight Saving Time comes to an end this weekend, the Renton Police Department is reminding residents to do more than just turn their clocks back. Officers are encouraging the community to take this time to check outdoor lighting and ensure home address numbers are clearly visible — especially as the days get shorter and nights grow longer.
The department says visibility is crucial not only for first responders during emergencies but also for delivery drivers and visitors trying to locate homes in low-light conditions.
Renton Police offered several tips to improve home safety and visibility:
-
Make sure porch, driveway, and garage lights are in working order.
-
Use motion-sensor or photo-sensitive lights to keep your property well-lit at night.
-
Check that house numbers are easy to see from the street.
-
If enlarging house numbers isn’t possible, consider using fluorescent paint along driveways or curbs for better visibility.
“If you can see your address, so can we,” the department noted in their message, emphasizing how small steps can make a big difference during emergencies.
Residents are encouraged to follow the Renton Police Department online for ongoing community safety tips and updates.
