Renton to Host “Meet the Artist” Mural Celebration on Main Avenue South

USARenton to Host “Meet the Artist” Mural Celebration on Main Avenue South

RENTON, WA — The City of Renton and the Renton Municipal Arts Commission are inviting the community to celebrate art, culture, and global sports with a special “Meet the Artist” mural celebration on Friday, December 5, at 8:15 a.m. on Main Avenue South.

The event marks the unveiling and celebration of a vibrant new mural inspired by the excitement of the 2026 World Cup and Renton’s artistic connection to the international tournament. Community members will have the opportunity to meet the Seattle-based artist behind the artwork, who also created Seattle’s official World Cup poster. The artist will be on site for poster signings—attendees are encouraged to bring their own poster if they have one.

The morning celebration will include a short mural dedication, followed by a community march to a nearby local pub where fans can gather to watch the World Cup draw together.

City organizers encourage attendees to dress for the occasion. “Wear your scarves, bring your soccer spirit, and come be part of the global countdown—Renton style,” the announcement reads.

The event highlights Renton’s commitment to public art, community engagement, and celebrating global culture through creativity and shared experiences.
