SEATTLE, WA — Seattle police arrested a 44-year-old woman after a road rage confrontation escalated into a stabbing that left a man seriously injured in Downtown Seattle on Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:55 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Madison Street. When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the neck.
According to investigators, the incident began as a road rage dispute on Interstate 5 and continued as both vehicles traveled into downtown streets. Once at 7th and Madison, the suspect exited her vehicle and became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim, who also got out of his car.
Police said the suspect, who initiated the confrontation, retreated back to her vehicle as the victim approached her driver’s side window while continuing to argue. At that point, the woman allegedly thrust a knife described as a “multi-tool” into the victim’s neck, causing serious injuries.
The injured man reportedly stumbled into the street before flagging down a passing AMR ambulance. The Seattle Fire Department provided emergency treatment at the scene, and medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.
The suspect remained at the scene until police arrived and was arrested without incident. Officers booked her into the King County Jail for Investigation of Assault.
The case remains under investigation.
