Seattle police arrested a 33-year-old man Tuesday evening in Capitol Hill after he once again attempted to flee from officers during an investigation into a reported gun threat.
Around 7 p.m. on September 30, officers responded to the 200 block of Harvard Avenue East following reports that a man had pointed a firearm at several people. When officers arrived, they spotted the suspect crouching outside a nearby business, apparently trying to hide his identity.
Police recognized the man, who has prior felony arrests and is known to carry weapons. When they approached, the suspect bolted, prompting a foot chase through Capitol Hill. He evaded officers by jumping a fence and running through a parking lot.
A K9 unit and a King County Sheriff’s Office helicopter were called in to help with the search. Officers eventually located the suspect hiding among trees in a parking lot in the same block where the incident began.
Police recovered 2.8 grams of methamphetamine and a single unspent round of ammunition during the arrest. The firearm reported by witnesses was not found.
The man was booked into King County Jail for obstruction and narcotics possession. Detectives with SPD’s Narcotics Unit are continuing the investigation.
