Seattle police detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday evening in the city’s Central District.
At around 8:15 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting near East Pike Street and Broadway. Upon arrival, police discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Seattle Fire Department (SFD) medics provided emergency medical aid before transporting the victim to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in serious condition with life-threatening injuries. Despite extensive life-saving efforts, the victim later died at the hospital.
While officers were on scene, a second gunshot victim arrived at Harborview with a wound to the leg. Police reported that the second victim is in serious but stable condition.
Detectives from the Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation Units processed the area while officers cordoned off the scene. Authorities confirmed that the suspect or suspects fled before police arrived.
The motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
