The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced the extension of the northbound SR 167 Express Toll Lane, set to open on Monday, Jan. 12.
According to WSDOT, the new extension will run six miles north from SR 410 in Sumner to I-405 in Renton, providing drivers with a faster and more reliable travel option through the Kent and Auburn areas.
The express toll lane will remain free for drivers with three or more occupants (HOV 3+), as long as they have a Good To Go! Flex Pass set to the HOV mode. Drivers without a Flex Pass will be charged a toll regardless of how many people are in the vehicle. Motorcyclists will need a Motorcycle Pass to avoid toll charges.
WSDOT also reminded drivers that Good To Go! Flex Passes and Motorcycle Passes are currently available for free for a limited time. Drivers are encouraged to take advantage of the offer ahead of the lane’s opening.
Transportation officials say the expansion is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and provide commuters with more predictable travel times along the busy SR 167 corridor.
More information and pass registration details are available through WSDOT’s Good To Go! program.
