SR 509 Extension Project to Improve Access to SeaTac and Ease Traffic Congestion

USASR 509 Extension Project to Improve Access to SeaTac and Ease Traffic Congestion
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is moving forward with the SR 509 Project, which will extend State Route 509 from I-5 to I-5 in SeaTac. The project aims to provide a new southern route for travelers heading to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, allowing them to bypass I-5, SR 518, and nearby local streets.

Located just south of SR 516 and heading north, the project will enhance regional mobility and reduce congestion along major corridors. The extension includes new interchanges, ramps, and overpasses, improving access for both commuters and freight transportation.

WSDOT officials noted that the improvements will make travel through the area faster and safer once completed.
